Hey Rasa @community,
In April this year, Vishnu Priya @vishnupriyavr initiated the Rasa community chapter in Chennai, India. She brought forward a lot of plans to create a space for discussions amongst conversational AI enthusiasts, bringing together the “Rasa’s” in Chennai, and creating another bridge between the community and the Rasa Team! Vishnu is clearly passionate about building chatbots, NLP and open source communities!
On May 2nd, she organized and hosted the first meetup in this chapter, introducing attendees to “The World of Virtual Assistants.” Also inviting me to speak on the importance of our open source community and our contributor program. An opportunity I am very grateful Vishnu created!
Since then, she has established even more opportunities for folks to get together and discuss projects, ideas and challenges while building chatbots. Hosting the second meetup in the chapter in July, this one included a case study by @rashmi.metri on her experience building a chatbot from scratch and a presentation from @vishnunahak on building a Whatsapp chatbot using Rasa. Vishnu has continuously supported fellow community members to confront their obstacles, and encouraging them to take their first steps to building chatbots and becoming open source machine learning contributors. At L3-AI, she gave a fantastic talk on this very topic in “A novice’s conversational chronicles.”
Leading by example, just last week she took another leap, taking up something new herself by hosting her first ever live coding session on building a simple chatbot which you can check out on YouTube!
We believe that Vishnu encompasses exactly what it means to be a Rasa Hero and a champion of open source development, making consistently high quality contributions through her meet ups and talks. We are extremely grateful and proud to welcome Vishnu into the Rasa Hero group as she takes the next steps in her journey as an advocate for open source and Rasa!
