Using entities in rasa v. using slots

Hi. I’m relatively new to Rasa. I watched the first couple of masterclass videos and in one of them, the presenter goes through using entities eg. San Franscisco.

I just didn’t quite get how then to get access to (location) and also what the difference between using slots is.
