Hi everyone,
If you’ve tried to learn Rasa from tutorials lately, you’ve probably hit the problem: most of what’s out there was written for versions from years ago, and the platform has changed a lot since. Today we’re fixing that. Rasa University launched at rasa.com/university.
The first course we launched is the Rasa Developer Certification: Foundations. It’s free, self-paced, and folks have been finishing it in around 3.5 hours. It’s up to date with the most recent version of Rasa. And you build a real agent as you go: every chapter has a hands-on lab where you write the code, train your agent, and test it directly in the course before moving on. Complete all six chapters, and you earn your Rasa Developer Certificate.
What you’ll build, chapter by chapter:
- Responses (hard-coded, rephrased) plus the project structure
- Custom Actions: connecting your agent to APIs and backend logic
- Memory: what the agent stores across turns, so it stops asking for things it should already know
- Collecting multiple pieces of information (slots) in one conversation, including corrections and digressions
- Enterprise Search (RAG): grounded responses from your document sources
- Sub-agents and tool use with an MCP server
By the end, your agent covers the full spectrum from fully guided flows to autonomous, prompt-driven dialogue.
What you need to start:
- An OpenAI API key (usage for the course is small)
- A free Rasa Developer Edition license
- Comfort with the command line and Python
Where to start:
- Self-paced, any time, at rasa.com/university. Log back in whenever and pick up where you left off.
Looking forward to certifying lots of you in the most recent version of Rasa!
