# Rest API get actions not just messages

Hi there,

I want to use a REST API to send and receive messages to Rasa, but I want to know the action names in the bot response, for example “utter\_welcome” rather than “Hello I am bot”, or “action\_custom\_fallback” rather than “Sorry I don’t understand”.

Any advice on how to do this?
